They have been, as of Oct.9, 2011 at the same location for 14 days. One of this species would be rare for RI, five of them at once is a FIRST! There are other surprises in this Gallery too. And more photos of that enchanting day to come!

The first photograph, a male Rose-breasted Grosbeak, is the first one I've ever seen in my yard! ]]>While Autumn was warm and Summer-like, Winter continues to be very cold most days, more snow than usual, with layers of snow, ice, snow packed on the ground. The birds and squirrels arrive in my yard each day: I think with so much harsh weather, my putting out food is a real help to them. I will be adding photos as Winter continues. Enjoy!

]]>This Gallery begins with a New Year's greeting to all for this brand new year, 2011. I chose to include photos I took this past Autumn, as it wasn't that long ago! The beginning of this season was warm and Summer-like here in New England. It ended very much as expected: an increase in below freezing nights and the departure/arrival of migratory species.

Butterflies, Skippers & Moths share many characteristics, including the miraculous transformation from caterpillar to a Butterfly, Skipper or Moth! The variety within each of the three groups is vast. Skippers are classified between Butterflies & Moths as they share traits of each, but in a way all their own. These were all taken in Rhode Island, USA.
